Shiatsu is a Traditional Oriental Therapy where the therapist massages the patient by applying localized pressure using the fingers, palms and elbows. It is done on a mat or futon, where the patient lies in comfortable clothing. This ancient therapy is used to treat ailments and diseases such as:

  • Headaches

  • Neck pain

  • Shoulder pain

  • Chronic Fatigue

  • Digestive problems

  • Period pains

  • Sciatica

  • etc.

Regulated as a medical therapy in Japan by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the Shiatsu massage brings aspects of both traditional Japanese and Chinese Traditional Medicine.

This is a combined technique in the diagnosis and therapy. The therapist starts by noting the energy imbalances associated with the internal organs through the power perceived by the initial pressure exerted on the patient's abdomen. Once identified, in order to rebalance the body, they work by applying pressure, meridians and acupuncture points, thus achieving the correct distribution of energy in the body. Acquiring this skill requires considerable experience, both in the diagnosis and correctly identifying the sources of imbalance to try to eliminate them.

In China, many studies and case reports were developed to support the use of these disciplines in the treatment of many diseases. The result of this effort was that in the late 70s, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued a resolution which recognizes the effectiveness of acupuncture for the treatment of some diseases, and was recommended to all governments in the world to integrate these therapeutic techniques into different health systems.

Based on my professional experience acupuncture is very effective in cases such as:

  • Tendinitis

  • Migraines

  • Period pains

  • Infertility

  • Impotence

  • Irregular periods

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Insomnia

  • Backache

  • Sore throat

  • Sciatica

  • Swollen joints

Acupuncture is a complete therapy treating the patient as a whole, thus regulating the body’s untreated symptoms separately, by trying to regulate the whole organism. (Although there are specific treatments for acute cases)

Qigong or chi kung, is the root of Chinese medicine. There is a belief or theory that CHI KUNG is a practice based on the experience gathered by Chinese teachers for over 2000 years.

The methodology can vary from school to school, but it’s based on a simple table of synchronized movements in the patient’s breathing to achieve a state of relaxation: Physical, emotional and mental

It is based on the law of minimal muscular effort, for maximum energy benefit. First it improves the health and increases vitality which will later affect every aspect of life: social, family, work, creativity etc.

The method is simple at a first glance. It consists of a system of exercises based on a  very simple harmony of movement, breath and mind. Practiced daily Qigong can heal or improve many diseases.

Jose Luis Olmos has been practicing and teaching chi kung (Hua Gong style) to his patients since 1999 determining the exercise routine according to each patient’s needs.

He currently teaches courses in groups or individually in Altea and has been a therapist and Chi Kung monitor to many Celebrities at the SHA Wellness Clinic.
